Thighplasty - Thigh Lift
Serving Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
A thighplasty, or thighlift, procedure can help reduce unattractive saggy or dimpled skin in the thigh area. Many people who have experienced weight loss, either as a result of exercise, diet, bariatric surgery, or liposuction end up with loose skin where all their fat used to be. Dr. Barber can help remove the unsightly excess skin and tighten up those thighs with a thighlift.
Similar to an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), thighplasty surgery removes excess skin from the central upper thighs.
In the most common technique, an incision is made in the groin crease to hide any scar tissue. The upper central thigh skin and fat is removed, making the upper portion of the thigh smoother and tighter looking.
This procedure is often performed in conjunction with liposuction to sculpt the thigh into a more desirable form.
Thighplasty is typically an outpatient procedure, but if performed with other procedures, an overnight stay at the hospital may be necessary.
Risks and recovery
All surgery contains certain risks. Some possible risks and complications include:
- Numbness and swelling of the leg
The scar may be visible for up to a year after surgery, and additional revision of the scar tissue may be performed at a later date.
When deciding on thighlift surgery to improve the shaping and contouring of your legs, it is important to find a reputable surgeon who is part of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Pittsburgh area plastic surgeon James Barber is board certified and is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
