Mastopexy
For many women, the breasts show some of the most serious signs of aging. As the skin loses elasticity and the breasts lose their firmness, they begin to sag, droop, and develop unsightly wrinkling.
This condition, known as ptosis, can also be caused by weight loss or breastfeeding.
For many women who are self-conscious about the appearance of their breasts, a breast lift can restore the appearance of a firm, youthful bust.
A breast lift, also called a mastopexy, is a procedure to remove excess skin and fatty tissue surrounding the breasts, and lift the breast tissue higher on the torso.
The procedure for a mastopexy tightens the skin and lifts the breast tissue, creating a higher, firmer, more youthful looking breast. To accomplish this, your surgeon will make an anchor-shaped incision along the lower crease of the breast, then up to the nipple. The underlying tissue will be tightened and firmed up, excess skin will be excised, the nipple will be moved higher on the breast mound, and the incisions will be securely sutured.
Many women opt to have breast implants during their breast-lift procedures as well, to replace lost breast mass, or simply to enlarge their breasts.
