Mini Facelifts

Serving Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

When it comes to altering looks, many people are understandably leery about electing a facelift operation. After all, it is a major surgery and requires a considerable investment in time and money. If you are looking at modifying your appearance, are not ready for major surgery, and want to take 5 years off your face more uniformly and permanently than either Botox or fillers like Restylane can achieve, consider a mini-facelift procedure instead.

Procedure

The mini-facelift is performed on an outpatient basis with local anesthesia. There are two varieties, anterior and posterior and each one takes about three hours of your time.

Anterior mini-facelifts pull the skin up towards your temple and affect the cheeks temporal area of your face. The posterior face lift pulls the skin back towards the back of your head and tightens the neck area.

Endoscopic — In this variation, Dr. Barber uses a small camera to guide surgical instruments through small incisions, manipulating the skin from behind.

Non-endoscopic — Using this option, there are slightly larger incisions near the site where the skin is adjusted, and the skin is peeled back and sutured after tightening.

Candidates

People in good health who are just starting to show signs of aging, and don't want or need a full blown facelift operation.

People who previously had facelift surgery, but need a little bit of tightening up. A full facelift can last about 10 years or more. The mini-facelift can last about 5 years before needing a touch up.

A mini-facelift is sometimes called a weekend facelift. With this procedure, you can typically go back to work in just a few days.

Besides being a faster, more economical procedure, many people feel that the mini-facelift gives them a more natural appearance afterwards.

Like all cosmetic procedures, careful consideration must be given to electing a mini-facelift. It is important to understand exactly what the procedure can, and cannot do for your appearance.

When deciding on a mini-facelift to give you a more youthful visage, it is important to find a reputable surgeon who is part of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Pittsburgh plastic surgeon, James Barber is a board-certified member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
